Destiny 2 is a popular online multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Bungie. It is the sequel to Destiny, and it offers both PvE (Player versus Environment) and PvP (Player versus Player) gameplay in a shared-world environment.
In Destiny 2, players take on the role of Guardians, defenders of humanity, who wield powerful abilities and weapons to combat various alien races and other threats. The game features a variety of activities, including story missions, strikes, raids, and player-versus-player modes such as Crucible matches.
Since its release, Destiny 2 has received several expansions and updates, adding new content, missions, and features to the game. It is available on various platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Forsaken:
Forsaken is widely regarded as one of the best expansions in Destiny 2. It introduced a darker and more engaging story centred around the hunt for the notorious Fallen leader, Prince Uldren Sov, who was responsible for the death of a beloved character, Cayde-6. The expansion added a new location called the Tangled Shore, along with the Dreaming City, a beautiful yet mysterious endgame destination. Forsaken also introduced the Gambit mode, a hybrid PvE/PvP activity that became a favourite among players.
Shadow keep:
Shadowkeep marked the beginning of Destiny 2’s third year and brought players back to the Moon, a location from the original Destiny. The expansion delved into the return of the Hive and introduced a new raid, Garden of Salvation, set within the Black Garden. Shadowkeep also introduced Armor 2.0, a significant overhaul to the game’s armour system, allowing for more customization and player choice.
Beyond Light:
Beyond Light took players to the icy moon of Europa to confront the Fallen Kell of Darkness, Eramis, and her army of Stasis-wielding Fallen. This expansion introduced the Stasis subclass, the first new elemental subclass since the launch of Destiny 2, bringing a new dimension to gameplay with ice-based abilities. Beyond Light also removed several older destinations and activities to make room for new content and improvements.
Warmind:
Warmind brought players back to Mars to confront a new threat: the ancient Warmind Rasputin, who had awoken and was under attack by the Hive. This expansion introduced a new campaign, focusing on the story of Ana Bray and her efforts to protect Rasputin. Warmind also added a new endgame activity called Escalation Protocol, a challenging horde mode set on Mars. Additionally, Warmind introduced new exotic weapons and armour, as well as improvements to the game’s sandbox and progression systems.
Season of Opulence:
While not a traditional expansion like the others on this list, Season of Opulence offered substantial content and introduced the Crown of Sorrow raid. Players again ventured into the Leviathan to confront the Cabal Emperor Calus’s challenges and claim powerful rewards. The season also introduced the Menagerie activity, a six-player matchmade PvE mode where players could earn specific loot by completing encounters and managing their resources effectively.
