Upcoming Star Wars Shows: The Inside Scoop on Disney’s Next Big Star Wars Projects

To take a glimpse of what lies ahead in a galaxy far far away, here are some Upcoming Star Wars Shows: the inside scoop on Disney’s next big Star Wars projects.

Star Wars Upcoming Shows: obi wan kenobi

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2

The first season of the series premiered last May. Obi-Wan Kenobi has returned to the screen with his own show, and there has been a rumor about Ewan McGregor reprising his role in a new movie. Although it remains to be seen whether Disney will release a new theatrical film featuring the seasoned actor, the new TV series has brought him back. Events in the series, at least during the first episodes, are set between the periods of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope – a time when Obi-Wan has his solitary moments on Tatooine. Season 2 is reportedly in development. At the time of the writing, Disney has not given the green light for the second season, but considering the popularity of the first season, it only makes sense if fans expect a continuity of the storyline focused on the Jedi Master.

Star Wars Upcoming Shows: andor

Star Wars: Andor

Disney+ has scheduled the first episode of Star Wars: Andor for August 31, 2022. Events of the new show are set just before Rogue One, focusing on Cassian Andor as he joins the Rebel Alliance during its early days. Actors reprising their roles from Rogue One include Alan Tudyk as K-2SO, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma. Disney describes the new series as a spy thriller, of which the storyline revolves around some dangerous espionage missions as the Rebellion is still trying to get a foothold to prepare for the upcoming battles against the mighty Galactic Empire. Even before the release date, season 2 is already a work-in-progress.

Star Wars Upcoming Shows: tales of the jedi

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi

There is going to be a new animated Star War series in the fall this year. The title “Tales of the Jedi” could be misleading as it often refers to a Dark Horse Comic series that chronicles the ancient history of the Jedi Order and how it became a formidable defender of the Republic to stand in the way of the Sith. Fans of the Legends can be all too familiar with the title and its storyline so that they may expect something similar from the show. However, the animated series will instead focus on Count Dooku and Ahsoka. Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn will be there too.

Star Wars Upcoming Shows: bad batch

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2

Also scheduled for fall 2022 is Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Season 2). The basic framework of the second season remains pretty much the same as the first in which Clone Force 99 is on their way again across the galaxy to find their true roles and purpose. In addition to a promised appearance of a Wookie, one of the highlights of the upcoming season is the emperor’s ill-fated cloning programs and how it relates to the origin of Omega.

Star Wars Upcoming Shows: the mandalorian

The Mandalorian Season 3

After taking a break for a year to give the time and space for The Book of Boba Fett, the eagerly awaited season 3 of The Mandalorian will arrive in February 2023. Now that Din Djarin wields the Darksaber, he bears the responsibility as the leader of Mandalore. Whether the absence of Grogu from his side will make his journey more complicated remains to be seen.

Star Wars Upcoming Shows: young jedi adventures

Young Jedi Adventures

Admittedly the people who love Star Wars from the very beginning are no longer young today. The first film was released in 1977, and the original trilogy concluded in 1983. A new animated show titled “Young Jedi Adventures” is meant for younger viewers or at least hopes to attract a new generation of ardent fans. Events are set during the High Republic Era where the Jedi Order rules the prosperous galaxy with honor and justice. The storyline focuses on the adventure of some Padawans in their effort to learn and master the Force. Disney+ and Disney Junior will run the show starting spring 2023.

Star Wars Upcoming Shows: visions

Star Wars: Visions Volume 2

An announcement of a continuation of Visions surfaced in May 2022 during Star Wars Celebration at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. What makes the first volume a much-celebrated take on the franchise is how the studios (all seven of them) working on the project took a freestyle approach to tell the tales of Star Wars beyond the constraints of the franchise’s canon. If the first volume is handled by all Japanese studios, the second volume brings along studios from all over the world including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, South Africa, Spain, Ireland, and India. Fans can expect an anthology-style series with a standalone story in each episode.

Star Wars Upcoming Shows: ahsoka

Star Wars: Ahsoka

Scheduled for a 2023 (exact date yet unknown), Star Wars: Ahsoka is basically a spinoff of The Mandalorian. Both are set in the same timeline. As the title suggests, the series focuses on Ahsoka Tano. The problem with the timeline is that Ahsoka is already an adult, so the series will not likely explore her origin. Instead, the plotline will follow her hunt for Thrawn. Hayden Christensen, who made a fan-pleasing comeback as Darth Vader in the show Obi-Wan Kenobi will also appear in Ahsoka.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

A new series under the code name of “Grammar Rodeo” was announced in May 2022. Events of the series are set after Return of the Jedi, the same as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. In the aftermath of the Empire’s defeat against the Republic, the Jedi are dealing with a massive reconstruction task to restore order in the galaxy. The main characters are children, but the series is not exactly a children’s show. An announcement was made during the Star Wars Celebration 2022 that Jude Law has been cast for the series. This Grammar Rodeo is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, set to premiere in 2023.

Star Wars: The Acolyte

The period around three centuries before the events in The Phantom Menace is known as High Republic Era. It is a time when the Jedi reign supreme in a prosperous galaxy, under the assumption that the Sith are no longer in existence. The new series “Star Wars: The Acolyte” will give a fresh perspective on the history of the galaxy, including an insight into its dark powers and the secrets that trigger a sequence of interconnected events seen in the Star Wars trilogies.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

There are no Star Wars theatrical releases since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, as most of the franchise is now on TV. One of the latest film developments is Rogue Squadron, directed by Patty Jenkins. However, production has been delayed since fall 2021. Disney has made no official announcement of cancellation or if the production is back on track. It is still technically in development and scheduled for release in late 2023.

And he used his good looks to lure in the unsuspecting during his service in the rebellion. He was a committed, by the book intelligence officer who had combat experience, and was reserved partly due to his actions during the war. Though he carried out his duties, there were times when he had remorse and regret concerning the acts he had to execute. His superiors spoke highly of him in combat and espionage missions. How were clones made in Star Wars?

Janko Fett (bounty hunter) had a genetic template that was used to grow clone troopers on the planet Kamino. These clone troopers were made into a highly-efficient military force. The clones were originally “the good guys” until Order 66 (a hidden trigger implanted in every clone) was set into motion by Darth Sidious. This made every Jedi an enemy of the Republic. Clones turned on their allies, killing them across all the lands under the rule of Darth Vader. Clone Troopers became a secret weapon that helped assume control of the galaxy.
